Originally based in Switzerland, they had settled in Arosa, an up-and-coming tourist region, in 1895. Through diligence and business acumen, the family was able to profit from the economic upswing of the town and soon called a residential, a working and a guest house their own.
The following generation around Rudolf Tanner Senior expanded the tourist rental of the property and also devoted themselves extensively and with passion to winter sports.
The Swiss health resorts were largely spared from the turmoil of the Second World War, and the comparatively easy life in the mountains offered locals and privileged guests an opportunity for all kinds of sporting and social activities.
In the 1960s, the generation around Peter Johann Tanner focused on skiing, perfected the technical demands and achieved impressive successes in ski races on the national and international stage. The common love of skiing consequently also brought the parents of Urs Tanner, the current owner, together.
The 1980s brought a new alpine trend from overseas, the snowboard, which enthused the entire Tanner youth. Captivated by the feeling of freedom of sporting innovation, they achieved pioneering feats in snowboarding and enjoyed seemingly limitless slopes.
At the beginning of the 90s, Urs Tanner met his wife and together they built up a life in Salzburg, where their two children Luca and Selina were born.
With the sporting talent of the children, the passion for skiing was given new impetus and the following years were marked by everyday racing.
Even the youngest generation is already on skis and enjoys the unforgettable winter world around Altenmarkt-Zauchensee.
